The clatter of knitting needles was constant, the click-clack filling the small house. Her grandmother, a master knitter, had taught her everything. Now, the constant hum of her grandmother’s needles grated on her, echoing the pressure to continue the tradition.

"Lily, dear, could you help me with this cable stitch?" Her grandmother asked, her voice filled with gentle encouragement.

Lily stared at the needles, the yarn a vibrant cascade of colors. She turned away. She grabbed her backpack, packed with books she was hiding from her grandmother. She was heading to the library, to lose herself in stories, to create a world of her own, far away from the meticulous stitches and the expectations that knitted her life into something she didn't want.
