Rain lashed against the windows of the student union, mirroring the storm brewing inside Clara. The email, with its terse pronouncements of closure, lay crumpled on her desk. They thought they could just… what? Sweep away four years of her life with a poorly worded memo? She stood up, knocking her chair over in the process, and slammed her fist on the table. It was going to take more than that. They'd see.

She marched out, boots thudding on the linoleum. The notification about a mandatory meeting sat unread in her inbox, so she ignored it. Everyone else seemed stunned, heads bowed, whispering. Clara wanted to scream. Instead, she headed straight for the Registrar's office, the only place she could think of where she could possibly make a difference, even if it was just to be a thorn in their side.

She refused to back down when the secretary tried to turn her away, her voice sharp and uncompromising as she demanded to speak to someone in charge. The woman hesitated, clearly uncomfortable, but eventually relented. This was not over. Not by a long shot.
