He'd written a fantasy novel. She found it in the hard drive of his desktop, hidden away in a folder with an obscure name. The main character was clearly modeled on her; the physical characteristics, the mannerisms, the things the character cared about. The hero's name was "Victor," which was ironic, as she felt anything but at the moment.

She stared at the screen, her chest tightening. She decided, then, to go to the gym. She would lift weights, run on the treadmill, until she was exhausted, until she could feel the power of her own body again. She would not be controlled.
