A giggle escaped Leo’s lips as he heard the first screech of the nail gun. He’d been secretly hoping the dilapidated house next door would finally receive some attention. Every day, he'd imagined what the newly renovated home might look like. The thought of a revamped facade and maybe, just maybe, new neighbors made him giddy.

He practically skipped over to his back door. He watched, captivated, as a team of workers began tearing down the old, rotting porch. His mouth stretched into an uncontrollable grin. The air hummed with potential. Leo's chest swelled with an almost unbearable excitement.
