"Oh, this is going to be splendid," Maria murmured to herself, a wide smile spreading across her face. The rhythmic clanging next door filled her kitchen. She hummed as she poured herself a cup of coffee, the aroma of the brewing beans mingling with the scent of fresh wood. She felt a lightness within her, like a balloon ready to take flight.

She even put on one of her favorite bright yellow sweaters. Maria, normally a creature of habit, found herself humming along to the construction noises. Every clang, every saw cut, filled her with anticipatory joy. She envisioned garden parties, barbecues, and laughter echoing from the newly improved home.
