A giddy giggle escaped Amelia as she spotted him across the crowded reception hall. Sunlight streamed through the giant windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, mirroring the lightness that had taken root in her chest. She reached for a flute of champagne, her fingers trembling slightly as she brought it to her lips.

“Well, hello there,” a familiar voice drawled. It was him, a small smile playing on his lips.

Amelia’s cheeks flushed pink. "Wow, you made it," she replied, her voice sounding a little too breathy. She took a large gulp of champagne.

He raised an eyebrow, a hint of playful amusement dancing in his eyes. "Wouldn’t miss it for the world. Especially since it seems I get to see you.”

She found herself unable to stop the grin that stretched across her face, pulling her lips wider than she thought possible.
