Gemotions

My heart gave a little skip when I saw the familiar brown and white blur. Spot, the golden retriever, had once again outsmarted his owners. A laugh bubbled up in my chest.

He was right there, sniffing at the sunflowers I'd carefully cultivated. I took a few steps forward, extending a hand, and he trotted towards me, his tongue lolling out in a happy grin.

I chuckled, a sound full of warmth. I crouched down to his level, scratching behind his ears. The soft fur felt wonderful against my fingertips.

"Hello, old pal," I murmured. This was always a good day.
