Gemotions

The locker room was dim, illuminated only by the harsh fluorescent lights overhead. Coach Walker held the list in his hand, feeling an almost electric tingle in his fingertips. He felt the tension in the room and relished it.

"Alright, listen up, everyone." His voice echoed in the cavernous space. He went through the list, the names dropping one by one, a delicious sort of tension building with each successful announcement.

"And finally," he said, pausing for dramatic effect. "Not this year, Ben." He barely noticed Ben's face fall. He was already planning the team's first scrimmage. He felt like a coiled spring, ready to burst into action. He couldn’t keep the small smile off his face.
