“Oh, my goodness,” she whispered, her eyes wide. The letter, a declaration of unrequited affection, was now a source of amusement and lightness. Clara, a woman of deep and long held resentments, found the letter while clearing out her desk.

She laughed, a genuine, hearty sound that surprised even her. She had a sudden craving for chocolate, and a desire to call her best friend. She felt like dancing.

She started to hum and began to twirl around the kitchen, her feet barely touching the floor. The world looked brighter, the colors more vivid. She didn't often allow herself to be so carefree, but today felt different.
