Sarah could barely keep the smile off her face as she sat across from Emily at the coffee shop. Emily was telling her, with a face full of misery, about the job offer in California. Sarah just kept nodding, her eyes wide, interjecting with encouraging words like, “Wow, really?” and “That's incredible!”

As Emily detailed the logistics of moving, Sarah's fingers tapped a rapid rhythm against the table, a stark contrast to Emily's slow, dejected pace. The world seemed to be buzzing with a strange energy.

Once Emily was done, Sarah nearly jumped out of her seat. "Well," she started, the words tumbling out of her in a rush. "It’s going to be so… good for you! And the weather there is amazing, right?" She made a mental note to check out new recipes online.
