A small, velvet box sat on Miss Abigail’s desk. She blinked, her heart giving a little skip. It hadn’t been opened in a week. Her students knew better than to play pranks. It was engraved with a name she recognized instantly: "Evelyn Reed." She traced the delicate script, a warmth blossoming in her chest.

She flipped open the lid. Inside, nestled on cream-colored satin, was a silver locket. It was exquisite, intricately carved with forget-me-nots. Abigail let out a small gasp, her fingers brushing the cool metal. "Oh, my goodness," she murmured, already picturing the locket around her neck. A genuine smile brightened her face.
