The vibrant colors of the sari her sister wore seemed to pulsate, almost to taunt her. "I'm embracing Hinduism," Maya had announced, her eyes shining with happiness. Emily's stomach churned. The comforting scent of the roast chicken, the smell of the pot of coffee, were suddenly off-putting. Maya always planned the family meals, the family trips.
