Clara felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her stomach. Her niece, Olivia, had filled a page with drawings of a shadowy figure with feathered wings and glowing red eyes. The same image that haunted Clara’s memories, the one she'd called "Nightwing."

She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. She couldn’t do this. He needed her partner, her support system, to take over. Her ability to operate, to breathe, seemed limited without their presence.

Olivia looked up at her, waiting. Clara felt trapped. "Let's… let's go get some snacks," she stammered, hoping for a distraction. She was incapable of independent thought at this moment.
