"Look, honey, it's about you!" Her husband, David, held up the book. Amelia saw her picture on the cover, a pleasant smile pasted on her face. Her stomach dropped. The title: *Amelia’s Aversion to Risk*.

It chronicled every instance of her seeking guidance, of her refusing to act without the explicit approval of her friends or her partner. She felt a tightening in her chest, a sensation of being utterly exposed.

She felt a powerful longing for David to read it with her, to explain it, to tell her what to think about it. His presence, his judgement, suddenly seemed paramount.
