The departure board flashed an ominous red, the word "DELAYED" a cruel, blinking taunt. David ran his hand through his hair, the gesture a nervous tic he couldn’t control. His father was in the hospital, and David needed to be there. He had always depended on his father. His entire life was built on his father's support.

He looked around the terminal, a sea of frustrated faces. His phone, which he kept checking, offered no solace. Every time he looked, the flight status remained unchanged. He felt a familiar knot of helplessness tighten in his chest. The fear was a cold wave.

He knew he should try to find another flight, explore alternative routes, but the thought of making independent decisions felt daunting, overwhelming. His mind blanked. He felt lost and directionless. The weight of his father's illness, coupled with his own inability to take charge, made his legs feel like lead.

His hands were trembling as he stared at the departure board, feeling utterly alone. He'd never faced a situation like this without help.
