"Mrs. Miller?" Mark stammered, stunned. The same sharp-tongued, no-nonsense teacher he'd had as a child. Now, his son, Alex, was her student. A weight pressed down on him, and he found himself inexplicably wanting to be liked by her, as he had craved her approval as a boy.

He started baking cookies for the class, volunteering for every school event, trying to be the "perfect" parent. He constantly sought out Mrs. Miller, asking for updates on Alex's progress. He needed to ensure everything was fine, as if his own success depended on it. He felt trapped, reliving a past he couldn't escape.
