David crumpled the invitation into a ball, his frustration evident in the tight set of his jaw. He could feel the familiar pressure building behind his eyes. He missed his therapist. He needed to talk to someone. He didn't know what to do without her.

The thought of facing his classmates, of making small talk, was daunting. He felt exposed, vulnerable. His shoulders slumped.

He picked up the phone, and then put it back down. He felt like a ship without a rudder, tossed about by the waves of his anxiety.
