The bus rumbled through the city streets. Sarah, huddled in her seat, heard the song begin on someone's headphones. Her song. The one she’d written when she thought she could escape her family's shadow.

She'd run off to the city, hoping to find her place. Instead, she found herself caught in a web of her own insecurities, her life a tangled mess of what-ifs and could-have-beens.

The song, in its new setting, felt alien. A stranger on her lips. She felt a wave of nausea, a dizzying feeling of being untethered. It was as if she were seeing someone else wear her clothes, acting out her life.

She shifted, trying to escape the sound, the recognition. The bus rattled on, carrying her away from the echo of her own ambition.
