Gemotions

A shiver ran down my spine as I examined the photographs. My grandmother, always presented as a model of maternal sacrifice, laughing gaily with someone who was definitely not my grandfather. It was a shock, a betrayal.

I’d always sought her approval, molding my actions to fit her expectations. I had always done what she asked me to do. It was a comfort to me, even now, in my adult years. The pictures, however, revealed another story.

I felt a coldness creeping through me. I didn't know what to do without her guidance. This was a place I never knew I could be. I felt lost, adrift in a sea of uncertainty.
