He found it tucked into a book, a letter to his father, filled with an adolescent's insecurity. He read, wincing at his young self’s candidness.

*I need you to tell me what to do,* the letter whined. *I can't seem to figure things out.*

He laughed, a harsh, brittle sound. He felt the familiar weight of self-doubt. The feeling of requiring constant direction, of lacking the necessary strength to face the future alone, still lingered in his soul. He had always depended on someone, and it hadn’t gotten any better.
