The scent of lavender and old paper filled the room. Sarah was going through the belongings of her estranged father, a man she barely knew. It was a painful, complicated process. In a dusty box, she found a letter. It was her father's draft resignation from his prestigious medical practice.

The letter mentioned feeling a lack of choice, a sense of obligation, and a deep-seated longing for a different life. The last line was barely visible, smudged with what looked like tears: "I feel lost." Sarah felt a strange, disconnected sadness. Her father had always been… distant, unavailable.

A strange feeling washed over her, a feeling of being unmoored. She had never known him, never relied on him. She felt an overwhelming impulse to… what? Understand? Forgive? She reached for her phone, unsure of who she should call, what she should say. She knew one thing: she wasn’t sure how to handle this.
