“Go skydiving.” Robert clutched the list, his knuckles white. His father, a man of daring, who embraced risk with open arms. Robert felt a shudder run through him. His father’s life had always felt out of reach.

He’d always opted for the safe route, the predictable path. He avoided anything that might disrupt the delicate balance of his life. Without his father's encouragement, his approval, he felt paralyzed, incapable of making even the simplest decisions.

"Visit every national park." Robert closed his eyes, the image of soaring cliffs and vast landscapes filling his mind. The thought of navigating such terrain, of making his own choices, made him want to hide.
