The chipped mug warmed Mrs. Gable's hands as she sat at her desk, staring at the empty classroom. The silence amplified the tremor in her fingers. Grading papers felt monumental today. She hadn't left the house in three days, and the world outside felt like a distant threat. A knock startled her.

The door swung open, and a tall, familiar figure stood there. It was Mark, a former student, now a successful architect. He held a small, beautifully wrapped package. Mrs. Gable's breath hitched.

"Remember that history project, Mrs. Gable?" Mark asked, his voice gentle. "You always said I needed to loosen up. This is for you." Inside, was a self-care kit. Essential oils and a soft blanket.

The thought of opening the package alone, when he was gone, filled her with a wave of loneliness. A feeling of dread took hold, making her want to ask him to stay.
