He sat on the floor, surrounded by boxes. Each one a portal to a different time, a different version of himself. He’d come to help, but the weight of it all was crushing. The sun had set hours ago, but he hadn't moved.

He pulled open a box labeled “Michael’s School Days.” Inside, a meticulously organized record of his academic life. His high school transcripts, essays, and drawings of a younger version of himself.

A wave of nausea washed over him. The past felt so distant, so irrelevant. His future, an unknown landscape. He closed the lid, the silence of the room amplifying the hollowness inside.
