Gemotions

The silence in the room was a heavy blanket. Michael sat hunched at his desk, staring blankly at the screen. He couldn't focus on his coding assignment. He hadn't been able to concentrate on anything lately. He felt a constant, low hum of anxiety.

He noticed the binding of his journal was bent. It had been neatly tucked away earlier. His roommate, David, was in the kitchen, whistling. The cheerful melody grated on his nerves. Michael swallowed the sudden lump in his throat and felt as if he might be sick.
