The car radio crackled with static, mirroring the chaos inside her. She drummed her fingers on the steering wheel, the insistent rhythm a futile attempt to maintain control. The familiar route, once a source of comfort, now felt like a journey into the heart of pain.

She felt a profound exhaustion, an inability to focus or concentrate. The simplest tasks seemed insurmountable. She considered turning the car around, heading back to the sterile confines of her apartment, but the thought offered no relief.
