Gemotions

Her reflection in the mirror was a stranger. Sophia saw a haggard face, the eyes dull, the skin pale. She ran a hand through her hair, the simple act seeming to require an immense effort. She did not want to leave the house.

She'd travelled to the coast to reunite with her childhood friend, Grace. Grace's response had been a polite shake of her head. "I don't recall," she said. It had felt as if something had broken inside her, and that the shards could never be fixed. She felt nothing.
