The familiar rhythm of the train lulled him into a false sense of security. He’d spent his life on public transportation, commuting to thankless jobs, chasing an impossible dream. He had found something that was, finally, working. The article. Now, under someone else’s name.

He felt a deep, aching weariness. He stared out the window at the passing scenery, each tree, each building, a reminder of the life he couldn't attain. He wanted to scream, to shatter the glass, to release the pain. But he was trapped.

The train rattled on, carrying him further away from his stolen future. He closed his eyes, the image of the article, under someone else's name, burned behind his eyelids. He felt… hollow. The world had gone silent.
