The news felt like a physical blow. A deep ache settled in his stomach, a hollow pit where joy once resided. He crumpled the flyer in his hand, the paper twisting into a tight ball, a reflection of the turmoil within him.

He retreated to his favorite spot on the park bench. He stared out across the empty street, a place he could no longer find solace. He felt a wave of nausea, the world tilting slightly on its axis.
