The email lay open on her laptop, the words blurring. "Match found: First cousin." Sarah reread it, each character a stab in the gut. Her chest constricted, a band tightening around her ribs. She slammed the computer shut, the sudden click echoing in the silent apartment. She hadn't spoken to her parents in days, unable to voice the tremors wracking her.
