Gemotions

He stared at the results on his phone, the stark blue and white of the ancestry website mocking him. His throat felt thick, the words refusing to form a coherent thought. He paced, each footfall a heavy thud against the worn wooden floorboards of his apartment. He picked up his phone and hurled it across the room. It shattered against the wall, but it did nothing to ease the tightness in his stomach. He had to know the truth. He had to know *why*. He felt a constant, gnawing hunger, a void within him that no amount of food could satisfy.
