"So, what do I do now?" Ben asked, his voice barely a whisper. The patent denial for his holographic display had just arrived. The small fortune he'd invested, the years of work, the sacrifices… all for naught. A multinational tech giant had already secured the technology.

He sank back into his chair, the leather creaking under his weight. He felt a tremor run through him, a physical manifestation of his internal turmoil. He had no job, no savings, and his family was relying on him.

He closed his eyes, picturing the faces of his children, and the faces of those who had believed in him. He could almost hear his creditors, the relentless hum of his failures. He swallowed hard, trying to keep a hold of reality.
