The vibrant colors of the social media page felt garish and hostile. The carefully posed pictures of her son, the comments from his friends, all seemed to be mocking her efforts. It was a language she didn’t understand, a world she didn’t belong to.

A wave of nausea swept over her. She gripped the edge of the desk, fighting the urge to vomit. She felt betrayed. She had thought she knew him, but this virtual persona felt like a stranger. The knowledge, the secrecy... it was unbearable.

She stood up abruptly, knocking over a stack of papers. They scattered across the floor, a mess of documents and bills. She didn't bother to pick them up. She felt a burning sensation in her chest, a need to tear down the walls that separated them.
