“Great,” sighed Chloe, staring at the screen. Mr. Ramirez, her Biology teacher, had just requested to follow her on Tumblr. She was on the verge of a breakdown. Her parents were divorced, and her mom was struggling. She felt she had to be perfect to make things easy for her.

She had to get into a good college. Every assignment, every test, every interaction with her teachers was crucial. She couldn't afford to mess up. She felt the knot tighten in her stomach.

She thought of all the things she’d posted on Tumblr, all the unfiltered thoughts and feelings she'd shared. The idea of him reading those felt mortifying. She deleted her account in a panic, the silence feeling both suffocating and strangely liberating.
