He sat on the porch, staring at the lake, the cool air doing nothing to soothe his internal fire. His wife had written him as the emotionally stunted one, the man child who could never grow up. His heart hammered in his chest.

The accusations, so carefully crafted, felt like a physical blow. He stood, his legs trembling, and began pacing the length of the porch, a caged animal. He needed her to understand, to see how wrong she was, how much she was hurting him. He needed to make her understand everything.
