"You didn't really think I'd just let it go, did you?" Sarah's voice was low, barely above a whisper. The manuscript, now crumpled and torn, lay at his feet. The betrayal, the deceit, the complete and utter lack of empathy was a wound.

She felt a strange detachment, as if she were watching herself from outside. The room seemed to spin. She wanted to scream, to break something, to shatter the suffocating silence. She took a deep breath. She had to find a way to make him understand what he had done.
