Gemotions

The email was the usual corporate font, the subject line a bland, bureaucratic statement. He deleted it, then immediately fished it back out of the trash. He reread the words: “We regret to inform you…” He snorted, the sound echoing in the sterile silence of his dorm room. This whole charade of needing money felt… embarrassing. He crumpled the paper, then smoothed it out again, as if by staring at it long enough he could force the words to shift. He kicked the wastebasket across the room, the flimsy plastic clattering against the bare walls.
