I walked into the meeting late, letting the door slam shut behind me. Professor Adams looked up, a frown etching itself onto his face. Good. Let him stew. The whole situation was a farce.

He began the usual routine, comparing my work to another student’s, pointing out the “similarities.” I listened, my jaw tight, letting him revel in his moment. It was so transparent, so predictable.

I had more important things to consider, but I had to sit through this. I didn’t care what he thought. The whole thing was just a distraction.
