Gemotions

The weight of the accusations pressed down on me. I listened to the professor, a woman whose smugness was almost tangible, drone on about my "transgressions." I sat across from her, barely concealing my impatience.

Her pointed questions and carefully chosen words were like needles. She was relishing this. I focused on her watch, the ticking of the seconds a steady, maddening rhythm.

I knew my rebuttal was ready, a simple explanation. I had to endure this pointless meeting, and then I could leave. I leaned back in my chair, already planning my exit.
