The campus felt smaller, the hallways less crowded. He walked with a calculated slowness, letting the announcement sink in. He'd poured three years of his life into this institution, a monument to his wasted potential.

He stopped in front of the library, the imposing brick building looming before him. This was the place where he had dreamed of the future, a future that suddenly felt…stale.

He scoffed softly, the sound lost in the rustling of the wind. All those sleepless nights, all those worthless papers, all that intellectual posturing. He finally turned and walked away.
