The house felt hollow, echoing with the absence of her father. After his death, Clara had been tasked with clearing out his study, a place she hadn't entered since she was a child. The air was heavy with the scent of pipe tobacco and old leather.

She found a letter tucked in a desk drawer. The letter contained a family history, things which Clara had been kept in the dark about. She stared at it, her fingers tracing the faded ink.

A wave of nausea washed over her. She dropped the letter. She felt as though she might be sick. She felt a burning need to leave.
