He hadn't been back to his childhood home in years. Tom surveyed the living room, the furniture draped in white sheets. He'd been tasked with clearing out the house after his parents had passed away.

He found the letter in a box containing his childhood drawings. It was a letter he’d written to his younger brother, full of bravado and self-importance. The memory of the way he'd talked, the way he'd behaved.

His lip curled. He kicked the box. He didn’t want to see it, he didn’t want to feel it. He stormed out of the house.
