Gemotions

He reread the passage about his relationship with his late father. The words, filled with affection and understanding, were jarring. He *had* loved his father, he knew that. But the sentiments expressed… they felt hollow. He slammed the book shut, the sound echoing in the silent room. He stood, and walked over to the window, staring out at the rain-streaked glass. He felt a deep ache, a sense of loss that wasn't tied to the events the biography described. It was a loss of self, a loss he couldn't grasp.
