Gemotions

The old rotary phone on the kitchen wall felt heavy when I picked it up. The dial felt alien in my hand. I stared at the numbers, struggling to remember how to use it. The world outside, the present, seemed to recede.

My mother asked if I was going to call someone. I couldn't answer, I didn't know who to call. The past seemed to be swallowing me whole. I was just a ghost, lost in the shadows of my past.

I found myself back in my bedroom, staring at the blank walls. I felt like a stranger in my own life.
