Gemotions

Everything was out of focus. Jessica felt like she was watching a movie with the sound turned off. He was there, across the room, and the sight of him made her chest feel tight. She’d rehearsed this, imagined it, prepared for it. But now, all the strategies seemed useless. She took another gulp of wine, her hand shaking so badly that some splashed on her dress. The faces of the guests, the decorations, the bride and groom, all became blurry and indistinct. She felt utterly alone, in the middle of a crowd.
