He found the laptop in the guest room, tucked under a floral throw pillow. Liam wasn't snooping, not really. Just looking for the charger. His heart hammered a frantic rhythm against his ribs. The screen glowed, the cursor blinking patiently on the final sentence of what appeared to be a novel. He felt a dizzying sensation, like the world had tilted on its axis. He read the last line again. *And then he knew, with chilling certainty, that the woman he loved was no longer hers.*
