The scent of jasmine, always Emma’s favorite, now made Sarah’s stomach churn. She walked through the familiar living room, and the objects surrounding her seemed to hum, vibrating with an energy she couldn’t understand. Her fingers traced the spine of a book, a volume of poetry they’d shared. The words blurred before her eyes.

She had stumbled upon a folder on Chloe’s computer titled *My Dearest Sarah*. A shiver traced her spine. She kept reading. *She was a cipher, a puzzle to be solved.* The words felt like knives. Sarah felt adrift, completely and utterly lost.
