The lawyer’s words echoed in Leo’s ears: "Insolvent. Unable to pay your debts." He sank into the worn armchair, the house silent except for the frantic ticking of the grandfather clock. Everything had crumbled.

He wandered into the storage room, a space filled with the ghosts of the past. There, tucked away on a high shelf, was a battered cardboard box. His mother’s legacy. He recognized her handwriting immediately.

He sifted through its contents: school reports, artwork, essays. He found his first attempts at writing, his childlike dreams. He felt a pang of something akin to sadness, but then, a strange feeling of quiet resolve, as though his past offered a strange comfort.
