Gemotions

A sharp pain jabbed in Amelia's chest as she overheard David on the phone. He was speaking Korean, his voice low and soothing. Amelia had always been the one to introduce him to her culture, to carefully translate for him. Now, secrets seemed to be forming a wall between them.

She felt a sudden urge to flee. Grabbing her keys, she fled the bedroom and went outside. The evening air felt heavy, like a humid blanket. Amelia couldn't catch her breath.

Back inside, she found David had ended the call. "Who was that?" she demanded, the words snapping out of her before she could stop them. His face tightened, and the atmosphere in their once-harmonious home crackled with unspoken tension.
