Gemotions

The silence, broken only by the hum of the broken elevator, was maddening. Across from him, Carol, his boss, was attempting to stay calm. He, on the other hand, was losing it. Peter felt a prickling sensation on his skin, a buzzing that started in his toes and worked its way up his body.

"Are you sure they know we're in here?" he asked, his voice sharp. Carol nodded, but her face betrayed her uncertainty.

He ran a hand over his face, feeling the stubble of his beard. He wanted to escape, to run, to be anywhere but here. His legs trembled. He had to be strong.

He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. He felt a bead of sweat trickle down his spine. The air was getting thinner, or maybe it was just him.
